2nd International Conference on Concrete Repair, Rehabilitation and Retrofitting

Following the first International Conference on Concrete Repair, Rehabilitation and Retrofitting (ICCRRR 2005), ICCRRR2008 will again be held in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference will be organized and co-chaired by the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) in conjunction with the University of Leipzig / MFPA Leipzig (Germany).

ICCRRR 2008 focuses on the increasingly important aspect in modern infrastructure provision and retention: that of appropriately repairing, maintaining, rehabilitating, and if necessary retrofitting existing infrastructure with a view to extending its life and maximising its economic return. ICCRRR is intended to bring together practicing engineers, scientists, specifiers, researchers and others from around the world to share knowledge and experience on current developments in concrete repair, rehabilitation and retrofitting, as well as structural performance and material durability.

The conference will run over 3 days and feature presentations by authors of all accepted papers, as well as keynote addresses by leading international experts. General and plenary sessions will be accompanied by workshops, technical sessions and exhibitions. The language of communication will be English. A detailed list of conference themes is presented below.

CCRRR also aims to identify and deliberate on emerging research and development needs unique to concrete products and structures. The exchange of international knowledge and expertise is expected to result in the development of improved design and implementation methodologies for concrete repair, rehabilitation and retrofitting.

The aim of the joint effort between two of the leading universities in South Africa and the University of Leipzig / MFPA Leipzig, Germany, is to raise the level of awareness on the latest developments in repair and rehabilitation technologies, practice, and research, for the benefit of local and international participants. This continent-bridging conference is further expected to strengthen relationships not only between Africa and Europe but also between countries and regions from all over the world.
