Modern life thrives on the availability of electrical energy. Countless applications spanning from medical to industrial and consumer products have been made possible only by modern battery technology. Albeit both, limited energy density and high costs, sectors such as mobility, communications, renewable energy, count on the development of rising storage performances with regard to price, mass and energy.
Reason enough for researchers, application engineers, developers to join the 10th International meeting,“Advanced Battery Power”held in Münster, Germany, from April 10th-11th, 2018, gathering academia, industry and the public sector. As of today, a good 240 papers have been received and reviewed by a highly-ranked Organizing Committee for both, talks and poster presentations. The latest version of the program is now on-line (www.battery-power.eu).
With Dr. Christian Danz, Vice President Engineering Battery Systems, Bosch; Dr. Venkat Srinivasan, Argonne National Lab; Dr. Andreas Wendt, BMW Group; Stanley Whittingham, Binghamton University, the conference has already attracted international and renowned scientists and practitioners.
The “Battery Day NRW” preceding the main symposium on April 9th will enable participants to keep abreast with various topics around the basic science and technology by means of a thoroughly adapted series of introductory seminars.
The “Battery Day NRW” is supported by the Department of Economy, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart.
From April 9th-11th, 2018, Münster will again be the platform to update on, discuss, and experience hands-on the latest developments in battery technology, research, development and examples of applications.
The conference language will be English. Further details can be found under www.battery-power.de. As the exhibition venue has a limited number of exhibition booths, please be advised that the availability is about to end.

Max Planck researchers revel the nano-structure of molecular trains and the reason for smooth transport in cellular antennas.
Moving around, sensing the extracellular environment, and signaling to other cells are important for a cell to function properly. Responsible for those tasks...
Researchers at the University of New Hampshire have captured a difficult-to-view singular event involving "magnetic reconnection"--the process by which sparse particles and energy around Earth collide producing a quick but mighty explosion--in the Earth's magnetotail, the magnetic environment that trails behind the planet.
Magnetic reconnection has remained a bit of a mystery to scientists. They know it exists and have documented the effects that the energy explosions can...
Biochips have been developed at TU Wien (Vienna), on which tissue can be produced and examined. This allows supplying the tissue with different substances in a very controlled way.
Cultivating human cells in the Petri dish is not a big challenge today. Producing artificial tissue, however, permeated by fine blood vessels, is a much more...
Faster and secure data communication: This is the goal of a new joint project involving physicists from the University of Würzburg. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research funds the project with 14.8 million euro.
In our digital world data security and secure communication are becoming more and more important. Quantum communication is a promising approach to achieve...
