Flat, industrial rack PC for demanding automation tasks

The new 647B Simatic rack PC, at just two height modules (HM), is only half the height of the comparable 847B rack PC. Its small, space-saving, mounting depth enables it to be installed in standard control cabinets with a minimum depth requirement of only 500 millimeters.

The PC's powerful Intel Core2 dual central processor also makes it suitable for demanding automation tasks, such as processing large quantities of data for measuring tasks and industrial image processing. This new industrial PC comes in an all-metal enclosure and features a high degree of electromagnetic compatibility as well as high resistance to impacts and vibration.

It is suitable for use in industrial environments with ambient temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius. The enclosure is opened easily by loosening just one screw and, when required, the double front fan and filter mat can be replaced without using a tool.

The new 647B rack PC has six USB 2.0 ports, of which two are on the front, two PCI slots, a PCIe x16 slot and two “team-capable”, gigabit Ethernet ports. Clearly visible LEDs on the front help the user to make a quick PC diagnosis and show, for example, the status of RAID1, Ethernet, temperature and fans. Optionally available are a high performance PCI Express x16 graphics card for “Dual View” or “Display-Clone”, a DVD-RW burner, and pre-installed, activated Windows XP Professional, Vista Ultimate and Server 2003 operating systems.
