Octum decentralised inspection

OCTUMISEr – user interface for decentralised inspections with networked smart cameras.<br>

Assembly lines in particular and manufacturing lines in general are more cost effective the earlier defective parts are sorted out in the manufacturing process Decentralised inspections with networked smart cameras are the ideal solution for this process and cost optimisation step.

The inspection of singular manufacturing steps is technically easier to do and more economic than the end of line inspection of a complex product. It furthermore provides direct input for process control as a closed loop direct at the point in the process were the defect occurs. Sorting out the defective part in an early processing stage avoids incorporating more labour further on the line in a already defective product – this saves costs.

The system software OCTUMISEr provides the ideal user interface for decentralised inspection solutions implemented with networked smart cameras. OCTUMISEr offers a centralised overview and configuration platform for up to 99 smart In-Sight cameras from Cognex distributed on the manufacturing lines. All cameras may be controlled from one central point regardless of the specific task they are actually performing ( assembly-, dimensional- and surface defect inspection, reading of 1d or 2d codes and characters, label inspection, part and color recognition).

Integrated user management ensures that any user get`s acces to the system according to his assigned rights. The fast storrage of defective images with or without overlay diagnostics allows fast localisation of any possible error cause in the manufacturing process. For smooth integration into the production lines standard interfaces are provided.

For applications in the pharmaceutical indutry, OCTUMISEr is also available as a 21 CFR part 11 version with integrated audittrails and extended protocol and documentation functionality.

The individual inspection stations are designed custom specific and are available in IP67 protection class and also in stainless steel. Depending on the application throughputs up to 30 parts /s may be achieved.
