EPLAN Data Portal with Certified Component Data
Seamless engineering requires accurate component and device data that can be incorporated during project planning. But until now, that often meant losing precious time making detours to look up component information scattered throughout various supplier catalogues, then import the data manually into the project. The brand new EPLAN Data Portal greatly streamlines that process, providing users with web-based, certified data from many major manufacturers from a single source. Importing the data is a snap.
The EPLAN Data Portal, being unveiled at the Hanover Fair, gives the user one-stop access to up-to-date, tested and certified device data created in collaboration with a roster of major component manufacturers that reads like a who’s who of the industry: ABB, B&R, Harting, Igus, Pepperl & Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, Pilz, Rittal, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, SEW, Siemens, Wago and Weidmüller. EPLAN users with a software service agreement get online access to this great resource at no extra charge. EPLAN is committed to continually updating and expanding the database.
Internet-based server/client technology
The scope of data that can be accessed by the web-based portal is extensive and includes macros of sub-circuits, assembly drawings, function templates for an intelligent device selection, international designations, preview images and entire manuals. The portal is controlled via server/client software. The client provides an additional navigator locally in the EPLAN user interface, allowing users to select components directly from the server with all of the convenient functions of a web application, and insert them into their project or the system environment.
Simply faster project planning
The devices are easily inserted by using drag-and-drop. Using the portal not only makes searching individual manufacturer catalogues unnecessary, it also eliminates the need to type in part numbers or create one’s own macros. The time allocated to these fishing expeditions for the right components is turned into productive work time. Project turnaround is accelerated. Since all manufacturer data are available directly in the EPLAN database, existing connections from ERP systems to the EPLAN parts management database may continue to be used. Thanks to the Internet technology, EPLAN users obtain all important device information or data modifications on a just-in-time basis.
Manufacturers close to the customer
Component manufacturers also get superb support. EPLAN Software & Service generates the data and certifications. Depending on the device series, EPLAN processes all commercial data and provides function templates for an intelligent device selection. EPLAN also supports three-dimensional planning or wire routing for virtual enclosure planning and automated enclosure manufacturing. For manufacturers, relying on EPLAN to keep updating the database on a continual basis eliminates delays that occur whenever they are forced to wait for a new printing of their catalogues to reflect updated contents or new products. EPLAN allows them to accurately schedule and disseminate the latest news of their innovations.
