UBIFRANCE unveils four French pavilions at CeBIT 2010

CeBIT 2010 will take place in Hanover in early March 2010 and will showcase cutting-edge players in IT and telecommunications from across Europe and the rest of the world. The four French Pavilions will be located as follows: Business Solutions in Hall 3 – Booth H04; Telematics and Navigation in Hall 7 – Booth A10; Research & Development in Hall 9 – Booth B09; and Planet Reseller in Hall 14 – Booth K36.

A new feature for the 2010 event will be a joint UBIFRANCE stand, dedicated to Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (in Hall 7, devoted to Telematics and Navigation). Companies from the Midi-Pyrenees region of south-western France will be represented on this Pavilion.

The Aerospace Valley international competitiveness cluster, which totals more than 55,000 jobs in the aerospace and embedded systems sectors, is partly located in the region of Midi-Pyrenees (as well as in the neighbouring region of Aquitaine). The Airbus headquarters are also located in this region, as well as those of other leading international prime contractors. Midi-Pyrenees is a European leader in the design and manufacture of space systems and applications.

The Carnot Institutes will also take part in CeBIT for the second time (in Hall 9, devoted to Research & Development). The 33 Carnot Institutes form a unique research network for 12,800 scientists who all share the same goal – to promote innovation, technological transfers and partnership agreements between governmental R&D establishments, on the one hand, and companies involved in manufacturing, engineering, and technology, on the other.

The Carnot network is one of the biggest European research and technology organisations. Its institutes cover seven areas of expertise, including information and communications technology, as well as micro- and nano-technologies. Franco-German projects in application-specific research are conducted jointly by the Carnot Institutes and the Fraunhofer Society for the ICT sector.

Regional business development agencies will be present on the French Pavilions, including Moselle Development, the economic development agency set up by Moselle département of eastern France (in Hall 9), and the Paris Region Economic Development Agency (in Hall 3, devoted to Business Solutions).

French SMEs will also be taking part in CeBIT – business IT solutions will be represented on the French Pavilion in Hall 3 (Business Solutions), which will focus on communications software, project-management software, 3D web applications, email archiving services, and automated legacy modernisation solutions.

The second Planet Reseller French Pavilion will target prospective international distributors (in Hall 14).

At CeBIT 2008, France was an official partner country of the event. France benefited greatly from CeBIT 2008 and further expanded its business links with Germany in the wake of the trade fair. Indeed, the French IT and telecoms sector is in a good position to face the global financial crisis: in 2010, the sector in France is expected to record growth of 0.4%, compared with an average of 0.3% for the sector in Europe.
