University Profile

The University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt is a new and dynamic university for technology, computer sciences and business administration. A practical orientation, an international outlook and a well-rounded student life are characteristics of our programs of study.

The University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt was founded in 1994. Our future-oriented management is dedicated to our mission statement which sets the highest standards of research and instruction as our fundamental goals. The university campus was completed in 1999. An attractive building with modern facilities offers a comfortable environment which encourages success.

With around 1800 students, there is an open and friendly atmosphere at the university. Classes are small and students receive individual attention. The close interaction between professors, instructors and students creates a pleasant contrast to studying at a larger universities. The basic degree for all programs of study is the German “Diplom (FH)”, but the internationally recognized Bachelor and Master degrees can also be earned.

All of our degree programs include foreign language instruction. Students in every program of study may integrate one or more semesters at our partner universities in the USA, Europe, Asia and Africa. Such a semester abroad helps these students be prepared to meet the challenges of the global environment which will face them after graduation.

Furthermore, the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt offers several combined programs of study which incorporate an academic degree with a vocational training program. In addition to working toward their university degree, students complete their apprentice examinations in their field after four or six semesters. The diverse practical experience which is an integral part of our curriculum provides our graduates the optimal qualifications to begin their careers.
Several scholarship programs supported by companies such as Siemens and Temic provide gifted students with financial assistance during their studies. These students deepen their practical experience by working at these organizations. Normally such scholarship programs continue until students complete their Bachelor degree.

Alongside instruction, the university is active in applied research and technology transfer. Our modern laboratories and our expertise allow an array of opportunities to cooperate with companies.

In 1998 the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt was the first university in Bavaria to develop its own mission statement. It’s completion followed an intensive discussion process involving professors, students and administrators. This mission statement serves as a common guide in the activities of all official bodies and individuals at the university.
