The Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS conducts work on applications of microelectronics and silicon technology.
Its aim is to promote the more widespread use of advanced technology in innovative products and processes in industry, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises. The services it offers include conception, design, prototype manufacturing and testing plus consultancy and training of end users.
The Institute in Dresden works on the development of ASICs, signal-processing circuits and systems and intelligent integrated sensors and actuators based on silicon technology.
The Institute provides work for over 130 employees plus post-graduates and students largely from the Technical University of Dresden. To perform its research and development work, it has more than 5,500 m2 of offices and laboratories fully equipped for the design, simulation and testing of components and systems, plus 1000 m2 of class-10 clean-room facilities.
