What will local public transport of the future look like? Siemens answers that question in "The Crystal," a center for sustainable urban development, which the company runs at the Royal Victoria Docks in the east of London.
The eye-catcher in the exhibition, which opens its doors to visitors today for three months and to which admission is free, is the design study for a metro.
The model is based technologically on the Inspiro platform from Siemens, while it is based visually on the famous London Tube. The UK's capital intends to refresh its underground fleet and invest several billions in new vehicles.
In addition to the Inspiro, Siemens is also interactively presenting technologies that help travelers find their way faster in a specially erected station building in London. They include, for example, developments for electronic tickets, passenger information systems and station management systems.
