French fabrics to be unveiled at the London Textile Fair 2013

For the second consecutive time, there will be a French Pavilion at the London Textile Fair on 23 and 24 January 2013.

The Pavilion is organised by Tisslaine France Promotion, France's national trade association for the textile industry, and is supported by the French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in London. In January 2013, there will be 17 exhibitors on the French Pavilion, against 10 at the fair before.

The diverse French offer at the London Textile Fair will not only present a wide range of textiles — including wool, cotton, viscose, linen, silk and blends with synthetic fibres in various price ranges — from weavers, knitters and printers, but also clothing-accessory manufacturers such as SATAB RUBANS and design studios such as CREATIONS ROBERT VERNET.

The spring-summer 2014 collection (S/S 14) will feature hybrids and blends, whose features will be expressed through colours, textures and patterns. This season will explore the parallels between nature and human creation, where colour will reflect the range of natural light, from dawn to dusk.

Notable textures will range from the extra smooth to the coarse and granular. Designs and decorations will be varied, where geometric patterns will feature alongside natural materials.

Britain is the fifth largest export market for the French textile sector (2012 figures). Exports of textile goods to the UK reached €291 million in value within the first eight months of 2012 alone.

The 17 companies that will unveil their S/S 14 collections on the French Pavilion from 23 to 24 January 2013 are listed below; further details can be provided upon request.

AB CREATIONS/FABIEN DOLIGEZ

AB CREATIONS/FABIEN DOLIGEZ has two collections: Fabien Doligez and Opening. The former is a collection of plain and fancy weaves; the latter is a Jacquard collection. Opening has a six-to-eight-week lead time for a small quantity of 150 m/col.

AVELANA S.N./ROUDIERE

AVELANA S.N./ROUDIERE has revived the use of wool and wool blend. The company's S/S 14 collection contains materials with innovative coatings that make up novel garments. AVELANA S.N./ROUDIERE uses viscose in the production of the Super Comfort Luxury Legging, an original product, and has an agent based in the UK.

BUGIS

BUGIS will present its original creations that mix jerseys with linen and silk. The collection also includes mini Jacquard Jerseys with Lurex yarn or Jacquard bouclés, classic or fancy quilted fleeces, Milanos and interlock combed cotton. The company has an agent based in the UK.

CREATIONS ROBERT VERNET

Founded in 1957, CREATIONS ROBERT VERNET is a world leader in textile design: the company creates over 2,000 designs per month for womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie and beachwear.

Founded in 1830, DEVEAUX is a specialist in digital printing as well as woven and knitted fabrics, whether yarn dyed, Jacquards, plains, or Dobby. DEVEAUX has agents based in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland.

DUTEL operates a vertical mill offering a large, modern and diverse collection of Jacquards and textured fabrics. The company develops bespoke designs using original textiles to suit client requirements, and can adapt current designs quickly. MALHIA KENT has built its reputation on fancy tweeds and its S/S 14 collection is inspired by modern art. The company has a range of yarns, including paper yarn and transparent warp, which allows various kinds of weavings. MALHIA KENT's Draw me a Fabric system allows designers to use their own design and/or colours.

NUANCES SARL/ELLIPSE

NUANCES SARL/ELLIPSE's womenswear collection is made of plain cotton, cotton/silk blend and linen; the textures are sophisticated and a range of colours is on offer. The company has also created a collection of printed designs developed on various materials, along with a range of modern Jacquards in various blended materials. NUANCES SARL/ELLIPSE has an agent based in the UK.

PASTELS

The PASTELS S/S 14 collection, which is 100% made in Europe, includes fancy, Jacquard and solid-colour-stretch woven fabrics, as well as jersey Jacquard and fancy jersey. The company also offers a wide range of organic fabrics and is able to custom-create fabrics. PASTELS is currently looking for an agent in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
