TISSU PREMIER tames European winter trends in sustainable fashion

With 120 exhibitors, together with scores of visitors and contributors – designers, experts and other creators among them – TISSU PREMIER will help all concerned to better understand and anticipate trends in the textile market and in fashion across Europe.

The organisers of TISSU PREMIER have firmly put on the agenda what they refer to as “a propitious alchemy” between sustainable development and fashion; between affordable novelties and reinvented classics; and, finally, between technical comfort and the craftsman’s touch.

TISSU PREMIER will help participants analyse and anticipate trends in fashion and in consumer behaviour, and, more generally, understand where the market is headed. Since sustainable innovation and ethical fashion are at the centre of current market trends, fabric exhibits, a discussion forum and a programme of conferences will illustrate the point.

The trade show will take place on 1-2 September 2010 at the Lille Grand Palais exhibition centre, which is a short distance from the centre of the city of Lille.

The Winter 2011/2012 season will be given pride of place, around a number of key themes. The Winter 2011/12 focus will be combined with a summer update. The accompanying data will be analysed and broken down by categories – men’s fashion, women’s, children’s, and the accessories markets. Conferences dedicated to the winter 2011/2012 season will provide keys to analyse current trends, as deciphered by the Peclers Paris bureau de style.

In the Expo: Hair and Feathers area, the laboratory of Belgian designer Daniel Henry will offer his latest research on fabrics around the theme of natural sensations. A photo exhibit will be another highlight of the Expo.

The trade fair will integrate the Green Touch concept, revisiting the theme of sustainable development with a focus on responsible merchandising. As a highlight, visitors will be able to push open the door of an eco-conceived boutique proposing simple, clever display solutions for sustainable, responsible and innovative merchandising that is fashionable and attractive – from clothes and household linens to accessories and cosmetics. On the agenda will be eco-reflections and strategic choices, as illustrated in this ephemeral boutique.

Colour Codes Deciphered will be another key theme of the event. At the heart of this aspect of the trade fair, an aesthetic presentation will guide visitors through a gamut of attractive colours tinted by familiar, shared codes – colours imbued with environmental references and modern romanticism, which are still vibrant, warm, and free in their inspiration. This section will be organised around three areas: Country Codes, Club Codes, and Uncodified.

Country Codes will present a range of autumnal monochromes, showcasing chic rusticity. In warm, natural colours punctuated by vivid flashes of gold, Country Codes will invite itself into the city, strengthening its appeal of protective, sustainable comfort.

Club Codes will focus on the uniform and functional urban environment, adopting classic colour codes defining a chic and sporty look, in a quest for elegant authenticity and familiar reference points.

For its part, Uncodified will showcase natural and neutral hues, accented by bright colours in stimulating touches. It will be a case of ‘anything goes’ for rich prints with a baroque shine or tender floral designs.

In all, 120 exhibitors are expected to attend, representing all clothing and accessories sectors, from finishing specialists to prints and knits.

Among the new exhibitors, the following companies will be attending.

GULIPEK FABRIC & TEXTILE IND INC and TEZYAPARLAR TEZ-PA TEKSTIL both come from Turkey. GULIPEK integrates industrial processes from weaving to dyeing, as well as finishing, with a capacity for 5,000,000 metres annually. The company is ÖKO-TEX Standard 100-certified. TEZYAPARLAR specializes in shirting and exports 90% of its production.

GRIFFINE of France, a leader in coated fabrics, is part of Groupe Cotting. The company offers a high-end collection of polyurethane on knits or other textile bases. The company’s key products are ÖKO-TEX-certified.

MEGAWARE is a Belgian company that quickly and efficiently meets the short- and long-term needs of the women’s ready-to-wear market.

TINTEX is an integrated dyeing company specializing in the treatment and sale of cellulosic knits, with proven expertise in Tencel.

EUROTESSILE, which has ÖKO-TEX and BIO certifications, is a specialist in organic terrycloth, micro-terrycloth in bamboo and Tencel, micro-polar fleece, microfibres and other organic fabrics. Additionally, the company has a range of fabrics that can be used to manufacture washable nappies (for babies or incontinent adults).

BIO TISSUS has taken up the challenge of offering, in France, a certified organic, free-trade collection of fabrics and sewing accessories.

PASSION TEXTILES is a specialist in prints on fabrics such as boreal, rayon, yoryou, and cotton voile. The company prides itself on meeting short deadlines for delivery.

ALBANO MORGADO specializes in high-quality woven wools mixed with cashmere, camel’s hair and other precious blends intended for trendy products. The company is ISO 9001-certified.

Two fashion shows, by the Lille Grand Palais entrance, will be open to the public. TISSU PREMIER is keen to play its part in supporting creativity in Northern Europe, and even though the region’s design schools no longer need to prove themselves.

TISSU PREMIER will give creators carte blanche with THE STREET IS YOURS exhibition, which will be a forum for expressing the dreams of the next generation of designers. Unusual, colourful, exciting, militant, and 100% street fashion, the exhibition will give a snapshot of creative trends and designs, from Brussels, Antwerp and Arnhem to Oslo, Berlin, or Munich.

Echoing this exhibition, the Maisons de Mode designers will define the wardrobe of a dreamy GIRL FROM THE NORTH whom we might see walking along the streets of the capital of Flanders – a girl who likes fashion, and shows it.

These two exhibitions play up to TISSU PREMIER’s very location – a trade fair devoted to fabric and fashion, situated at the crossroads of Northern Europe. The exhibitions will open a window both on the outside and into the metropolis’ lively creativity, while revealing up-and-coming talents.
