SOLAR 21 lights up World Climate Solutions in Copenhagen

After less than six hours of charging in direct sunlight, the Mona solar light, developed by Solar 21, can produce light for up to five hours. Using new LED power technology and photovoltaic panels, this environmentally friendly light guarantees dense interior lighting. The Mona solar light will be showcased at the World Climate Solutions trade fair in Copenhagen at the end of September.

While traditional solar lights for external use are often viewed as markers rather than lighting appliances, this product, which is intended for internal use, completely transforms the notion of wireless lighting inside the home. Besides, the Mona solar light resists high temperatures and is fitted with an integrated mobile-telephone charger. It also comes in a convenient compact case.

The Mona solar light has been designed in response to a vital need from countries whose populations are affected by irregular power supply. With 1.7 billion people in the world still deprived of access to the electricity grid, this clean and effective solar light offers a genuine, practical and lasting solution.

Solar 21 was set up by Edgar Hardy, who himself originally comes from Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, in Central Africa. This invention marks a big step forward for the African continent, whose populations often do not enjoy the benefit of reliable private lighting.

Edgar Hardy, who studied at Ecole Centrale, the prestigious school of engineering based in Paris (France), is now looking for partners with an approach similar to his, in order to ensure that the Mona solar light develops into a lasting solution in Africa, in Europe, and across the globe. Indeed, Solar 21 intends to become the leading manufacturer and distributor of clean lighting products across the African continent.
