Fraunhofer IBMT is strongly involved in the field of mobile laboratories since 2005. Starting with the design and development of units for it’s own use, this field of work matured over the last decade within several projects.

Today Fraunhofer IBMT is mainly working in the area of consulting and conceptual design of mobile analytical and medical solutions for third parties. Together with Bischoff+Scheck AG, THIEMT and other partners from the network “Labor der Zukunft”, Fraunhofer IBMT offers solutions made to measure including selection of suitable instruments and manufacturers. Fraunhofer IBMT is also operating a mobile BSL-2 unit for the German environmental specimen bank ESB since 2013.

THIEMT has been busy in Middle East since 2009 and during this period has successfully performed diverse projects in the areas of planning, project management, consulting and realization. In 2012 THIEMT opened its own Representative Office in Bahrain. THIEMT is actively participating at the ArabLab for the fourth time; this year for the first time accompanied and supported by the Fraunhofer IMBT as academic partner.

About Fraunhofer IBMT

The Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT acts as device and technology developer when it comes to the solution of individual research and development projects and tasks from the areas of biomedical/medical engineering, molecular and cellular biotechnology, biohybrid technology, cryo(bio)technology and nano(bio)technology, ultrasound technology, neuroprosthetics/implants, (mobile) laboratory technology, sensor and measurement technology, health telematics, environmental control systems, material testing, home systems, air quality control and security systems as well as laboratory automation including in-line/on-line process control. For more than 10 years Fraunhofer IBMT works in the field of stem cell research and hosts extensive cell line stocks in industrial and clinically structured biobanks for low temperature storage of valuable samples (fluids, cells, tissue fragments).

About THIEMT

THIEMT plans and implements small and large laboratories, with or without building. Depending on demand, a laboratory sectoral planning or a general planning incl. building and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) can be offered. According to project and customer request, THIEMT accompanies the project as an independent planner or realizes it within a joint venture. Thereby THIEMT deals with the project management and/or as system supplier with the supply and installation of laboratory furniture and equipment.

About “Labor der Zukunft”

The association “Labor der Zukunft” (future's lab technology) was founded on February 3, 2014. It originates in a technology initiative lead by Fraunhofer IBMT and funded by the State Chancellery of Germany’s Saarland. Partners from different industrial sectors and research fields got together to foster new technological trends for modern laboratories.
