The invention at hand provides for the first time hydrolytically degradable, ionic copolymers, which are produced through radical polymerisation and comprise a random or block structure according to the reaction conditions.
The ionic copolymerisates according to the present invention are di- or terpolymers. Dipolymers are formed from cyclic ketene acetals A in the polymer backbone, for example MDO or BMDO, and ionic methacrylic acid derivatives B in the side chains. The ionic methacrylic acid derivatives B can be anionic or cationic. Terpolymers contain an additional nonionic methacrylic acid derivative C.
Anionic methacrylic acid derivatives B are selected from 2-methyl methacrylate, [2-(2-methyl-1-methylene-allyloxy)] ethane sulfonate and [2-(2-methyl-1-methylene-allyloxy)] ethylphosphonate. Cationic methacrylic acid derivatives B are quaternary amines of N,N-dimethylaminoethylmethacrylic acid (DMAEMA).
The methacrylic acid derivative C is formed from, e.g., methoxy-, dimethylamino- or oligoethylene glycol derivates of methacrylic acid.
