The CoAxial Extruder is an extruder with an independently controlled feeding screw. This additional feeding screw extends over the whole feeding section. The plasticizing screw within the feeding section may be designed with flights so it works like a normal screw in a smooth barrel or a grooved bush extruder with static barrel. This leads to reduced abrasion. The total specific throughput is the sum of each of the individual flow rates conveyed by the feeding screw and plasticizing screw, respectively. The interior surface design of the feeding screw may be either smooth or grooved. This design concept contains a suitable control system for the regulation of the flow rate according to the process parameters.
