Water-free immobilisation of enzymes

This invention presents a process for immobilising enzymes on fixed surfaces without the requirement of special functional groups. The inventive step in this process is the transfer of the enzyme into a form that is dried or suspended in an organic solvent without changing the biochemistry of the enzyme. This allows the biocatalyst to be mixed with conventional polymer resins and applied to surfaces, for example by spraying. Dry embedding on layered surfaces is also possible. After the polymer has cured, the layered workpiece can be processed mechanically, for example by grinding. The method according to the invention is an encapsulation and / or embedding process in which an irreversible immobilisation is got.
