Columnar sensor for the detection of analytes in fluids
With the present invention an oscillating columnar sensor will be enclosed in such a manner that fluid will not touch its generated surface, but a meniscus will form at the cap-like surface of the column. An adsorption of analytes thus can only take place specifically on the humidified cap. The attenuation of the oscillator will be considerably reduced as it is surrounded by an air gap in direction of oscillation. Therewith the detection sensitivity will be improved. Detection of single molecules or single cells shall be enabled in this way. Qualitative evaluation is possible because the exact location of the adsorbed material on the cap is known.
