Nanoprotein Electrode
The invention is a miniaturized, switchable electrochemical sensor. The electrode contains control components that can be switched on and off by illumination. These components are semiconducting nanoparticles. The control components are bound to molecule complexes that contain enzymes or proteins. In case of reactions that involve a transfer of electrical charge, such as enzymatic conversions, the control components permit measurement of the charge directly at the electrode.
