KERatin – 3D artificial skin models for therapy strategies of keratinisation disorders
The present invention describes a 3D model mimicking
normal skin or skin with a genetically caused keratinisation disorder. The model is characterized by the following advantages: – a collagen-fibroblast matrix and a fully stratified and cornified epidermal layer of primary human keratinocytes – epidermal basal layer and terminal differentiation – barrier function is present (normal skin) or reduced disease model) – no early hyperkeratosis – able to mimic single gene caused keratinisation disorders, e.g. congenital ichthyosis, which also shows similar characteristics like aging skin
