Implantable Device for Monitoring Vital functions Continuously

A sensor platform for continuous long-term monitoring of several vital functions such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, pulse, and perfusion is developed. The elastic cuff is placed around a blood-vessel. Wireless readout and electrical re-charging from the body surface are to be implemented. This sensor is intended to be part of a closed loop system inside of a patient which is able to react to pre-defined deviations of readings by neurostimulation or drug application. Our research group combines microsystem technology, and microoptics as well as experience in cardiovascular surgery. Design, micro fabrication of mechanical and optical systems, in-vivo testing as well as micro-pumps, is area of our expertise.
