Fiber-Optical Temperature-Measurement
The invention describes a low-cost method to measure temperatures through changes in light intensities. The method uses a semiconductor crystal whose band gap and thus transmittance varies with temperature. Already existing implementations suffer from several, temporally changing losses which require a regular recalibration of the sensor. The invention uses a simple to implement compensation method to get rid off the losses. This allows the constant usage of the sensor without any recalibration. As it uses an optical method for measurement, it can also be used in areas of strong electromagnetic fields.
