Two-Colour Fluorescence Marker for Neurodegenerative Diseases

Worldwide it is estimated that there are 29 million cases of Alzheimer Disease (AD) and about 4 million of Parkinson's Disease (PD). The world market for AD and PD is estimated to be 14 billion dollars corresponding to an annual growth rate of 20%, making it an very attractive field for R&D to generate novel therapeuticals. Recently, the accumulation of dysfunctional mitochondria has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases, in particular to AD and PD. Scientists at the University of Göttingen have developed a powerful fluorescent marker for Live Cell Imaging to study mitochondrial dysfunctions and for testing novel pharmaceutical products
