Alpha-Ketocarbonyl-Reductase – Tools for regio- and stereo-selective reduction of α-oxyfunctionalized carbonyl compounds

Alpha-oxyfunctionalized carbonyl compounds are indispensable building blocks for asymmetric synthesis of pharmaceutical ingredients and high value chemical intermediates. The regio- and stereo-selective reduction of single keto-groups in carbonyl compounds has always been a challenging task in organic chemistry, requiring multistep synthesis. An innovative enzymatic reduction process is the basis for simple and cost-effective region-specific and stereo-selective conversion of chemical and pharmaceutical intermediates.
