Artery Research (http://www.arteryresearch.com), is the official journal of the Association for Research into Arterial Structure and Physiology (ARTERY) (http://www.artery.uk.net) and will be published quarterly from 2008. The journal focuses on research into the arterial structure and physiology. The official launch of the journal is scheduled to take place during the 17th European Meeting on Hypertension (http://www.aimgroup.it/2007/esh) being held in Milan (Italy) from 15-19 June 2007.
Artery Research features original articles on the advancement of knowledge and dissemination of information concerning the pathophysiology, epidemiology, detection, investigation and treatment of arterial structure and function. The journal will also include review articles, case studies, letters to the Editor and short communications. Authors are invited to submit their work to Artery Research through the online submission and review system - http://ees.elsevier.com/artres
The first issue will include a summary of the recent consensus statement on arterial stiffness from The European Network for Non Invasive Investigation of Large Arteries lead by Stephane Laurent. Research into arterial stiffness is moving rapidly and the editorial board welcome feedback for improving the journal and its content. The first issue is available for free at http://www.arteryresearch.com
The Editor-in-Chief, Professor John R. Cockcroft, explains why the new journal is being launched: “The past few years have seen much progress in terms of research into arterial structure and physiology. The number of publications in this field has risen steadily with novel and important results being reported in a variety of high impact factor journals spanning many different disciplines and epidemiology. Artery Research is the official journal of the Association for Research into Arterial Structure and Physiology (ARTERY) and as such I hope will be viewed as the natural home for publications of studies in this field”.
Graham Brumfield, Elsevier Publishing Editor for Cardiology journals adds: “We are pleased to launch this new journal in association with ARTERY. The amount of published research in this area of medicine has been increasing steadily over the past few years and we feel this is an ideal moment to launch a new journal on arterial structure and physiology”.
