At the 98th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2012 in Chicago, Siemens Healthcare presented new economical systems in computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, and an entry-level version of its imaging software syngo.via. These advanced systems feature excellent image quality, high process efficiency, and lower cost of ownership.
To address the challenges of increasing cost pressures on healthcare systems worldwide and simultaneously keep the level of diagnostics as high as possible, Siemens Healthcare had launched the global initiative Agenda 2013 in November 2011. It includes a range of new economical products referred to as "Accessible Innovations". Since launching Agenda 2013, Siemens has introduced under its Accessible Innovations banner numerous devices in nearly every imaging modality. At the RSNA 2012, Siemens' Accessible Innovations offerings will expand with the introduction of new systems in computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, and an entry-level version of its imaging software syngo.via.
Economical CT scanner Somatom Perspective available as 128- and 64-slice configurations
One year after unveiling the 128-slice configuration of the Somatom Perspective, Siemens Healthcare will present a 64-slice configuration of the scanner. A small footprint of just 18 square meters, a brief installation period of just one to two days, and low energy consumption and cooling needs make these two state-of-the-art scanners the most economic CTs in their class. The 64-slice Somatom Perspective is appropriate for use in outpatient environments and small to medium-sized hospitals where CT tasks focus on routine applications. The eMode feature – like in the 128-slice model – automatically optimizes the scanning parameters to run the equipment more efficiently, increase the life of the systems, and lower maintenance costs. Patients benefit from Safire, a solution to generate CT images using raw data based iterative reconstruction that can reduce radiation doses up to 60 percent or improve image quality. An onsite upgrade to the 128-slice configuration – allowing customers to expand their clinical portfolio – is possible at any time.
Latest MRI technology available at attractive total cost of ownership
After the recent introduction of the Magnetom Spectra – a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with an attractive price-performance-ratio that facilitates access to high-quality 3 Tesla imaging – Siemens now also presents a new version of its Magnetom Essenza.* The established 1.5 Tesla system requires only low initial investment, while further savings of up to 25 percent can be attained on costs for space, power requirements and construction. Built with the experience of more than 1,000 customers in the field, the new Magnetom Essenza is for the first time equipped with Siemens' MRI workflow solution Dot (Day optimizing throughput),* which enables easy, fast selection of the best scan strategy based on the patient's condition and the clinical indication. Existing Magnetom Essenza systems can also be upgraded to Dot, while existing systems of the established Magnetom Verio 3T and Magnetom Avanto 1.5T can now be upgraded to Dot and Tim 4G, the latest generation of Tim (Total imaging matrix).* Based on ultra high-density coils combined with the highest channel configurations and a unique RF architecture, Tim 4G's benefits are exceptional image quality and faster image acquisition.
Advanced ultrasound technologies for improved cost-of-ownership
With the Acuson X700 ultrasound system, Siemens has developed a powerful system that offers exceptional image quality, robust technologies, and intelligent workflow solutions at an excellent price/performance ratio. Many advanced imaging technologies that were previously available only on high-end, higher-cost systems are now standard on the Acuson X700 system, including Dynamic TCE tissue contrast enhancement technology, which improves borders and reduces speckle/noise, facilitating subtle tissue differentiation. The Acuson X700 system also features intelligent workflow solutions that support workflow, ensure exam consistency, and enable high patient throughput. TGO tissue grayscale optimization technology provides instantaneous, one-button image optimization by automatically adjusting the image brightness to the tissue type being imaged. Moreover, the system features a new design for improved usability, including a 20-inch LED display. An integrated handle with articulating arm enables the user to easily position the monitor for comfortable viewing.
New entry-level solution of Siemens' proven imaging software syngo.via
With syngo.via Element, Siemens introduces an entry-level solution for 3D routine and advanced image reading. This software package is based on the latest version of the advanced multi-modality imaging software syngo.via and includes applications and functionalities specifically designed for reading CT studies, for example in neurology and oncology. Syngo.via Element is designed to meet the needs of specialized practices and community hospitals. In many cases, a practice may need to rely on some high-quality 3D visualization software applications, but may not require a full suite of syngo.via applications. Syngo.via Element is available with the Somatom Perspective and Somatom Emotion CT scanners from Siemens.
