The 6th BMBF Forum for Sustainability also marks the start of the new BMBF framework programme for Research for Sustainability: After five years of successful FONA research, the programme provides new thematic priorities, strengthens international collaboration and calls for an even closer interlinking of fundamental and applied research.
In this context, Prof Dr Karin Lochte, Director of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, will shed light on the impact of fundamental research on sustainability.
The sessions on global responsibility in sustainability research and on innovations for climate and resources will be complemented by the open final conference of the BMBF national research programme "Sustainable Forestry". "Green Talents" will present young scientists from all over the world who have developed creative and innovative solutions in the field of sustainability.
The 6th BMBF Forum for Sustainability is settled at the interface of science, industry, public authorities and politics. The conference aims at presenting best-practice examples, exploring new solutions and fostering the network of the researcher community.
The two-day scientific programme offers sessions on the following topics:
A Global Responsibility
B Innovation for Climate and Resources
C Sustainable Forestry
Furthermore, the evening events, a sightseeing programme and the "Locations of Organised Coincidence" will offer manifold possibilities for making interesting contacts and paving the way for new projects.
