Invitation / Call for Papers: Sustainable Building Restoration and Revitalisation

Following the successful conference in 2008, we will hold the second session of the conference in Shanghai. We hereby invite experts and scholars in related fields to attend this conference and submit papers. During the International conference, there will be special training courses on historic building restoration.

Themes:
Topic I: Theory & Research
1. Research on guidelines and standards for sustainable building restoration.
2. Research in timber, masonry and earthen structures & restoration theories.
3. Traditional restoration techniques and innovative materials.

Topic II: Designs & Planning
1. Application of building physics in historic building conservation (energy saving, thermal insulation, moisture, acoustics, fire etc.).
2. Maintenance and evaluation of interior climate of historic buildings.

Topic III: Practice & Case-study
1. Case study on sustainable building restoration.
2. Restoration and maintenance techniques of rural areas.

Training courses & Company Workshops on innovative materials and technology
1. Design concepts for restoration by calculate-tools to describe the performance of the building before and after restoration
2 .Design concepts for building restoration include tests on site and in lab.
3. Application of class innovative materials for restoration.

Purpose:
The conference aims to promote research and application of the outcomes in the fields of historic building conservation, renovation and revitalisation at home and abroad by doing summary and reviews of experiences, to accelerate the application of novelty know how and innovative techniques to the management, renovation, utilization and maintenance of historic buildings as well as to strengthen in-depth dialogues and exchanges between professionals and practitioners.

Target groups:
Members of International Association for Science and Technology, research institutes, universities, government, engineers, architects, historical building preservation institutions, construction units, engineering companies, enterprises and associations.

Presentations:
Presentations should be closely connected to the above mentioned topics, attaching great importance to introducing new findings in building physics and building maintenance and restoration as well as reporting related research progress and developments; be focused on scientific fundamental theories and their consistency so as to promote the sustainability of construction quality and measures of restoration, which in turn, further facilitates the maintenance and preservation of buildings and monuments.

Abstract and presentation requirements:
The participants shall send their abstract (max. one A4 page) to the host committee via our conference website in Chinese or in English (deadline before 1st March 2013). The abstract should include following contents: the theme of the presentation, the name of the author, contact information and the outline of the presentation. Authors will be informed about further presentation requirements if the abstract is accepted. (The standard word-format you will find for download on our conference website)
