International battery conference in Münster coming soon

<br>

From 25 to 26 March, Münster will be a meeting place for the international battery world. The MEET Battery Research Center at Münster University (WWU) and the Haus der Technik from Essen will again be hosting the conference “Advanced Battery Power – Automotive and Energy Supply Solutions”.

Visitors can look forward to a variety-filled programme covering the entire value chain of the battery, with 60 talks and more than 100 scientific posters. Participants can find out about current developments in the sector, ranging from materials research, battery and cell development to practical use in electric vehicles and stationary storage devices. A detailed agenda can now be found on the conference's webpage.

Speakers include Prof. Andreas Jossen from the Technical University of München, who will examine battery safety issues, and Dr. Menahem Andermann from Total Battery Consulting, who will discuss the development of the market for electric vehicles. Dr. Winfried Wilcke from the IBM Research Center in San José/USA will highlight the future potential of lithium-air systems, and Dr. Kazunori Ozawa, one of the developers of the first lithium-ion battery, will speak about the pioneering activities of Sony in the area of lithium-ion technology. An exhibition will complement the programme. Prof. Martin Winter from Münster University and Prof. Dirk Uwe Sauer from the RWTH Aachen University will again be in charge of the scientific oversight of the event.

On the day before the conference, 24 March, Battery Day NRW will take place under the patronage of Svenja Schulze, the Minister for Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It will focus on activities in the battery sector across the state. Up to 600 participants are expected to attend the two events. The venue is the Messe und Congress Centrum Halle Münsterland. At the conclusion of Battery Day NRW and of the second conference day of Advanced Battery Power, participants will also have the opportunity to visit the MEET Battery Research Center.

All further information and advice on how to register can be found on the event's webpage at http://www.battery-power.eu.
