Ultrasonic sensors for wood chip level control
As the volume consumption is relatively large compared to liquid fuels, the knowledge of the current level is particularly important. For large industrial heaters the feed quantity has to be controlled and thus measured as well.
Conventional simple level gauges are often overstretched because of the dirty and dusty environment in a tank or on a chip-conveyor belt.
Whereas ultrasonic sensors measure reliably even in dusty air and with polluted membrane. Wood pellets are pressed sawdust with no additives.
They are particularly suitable for home heating. Wood chips are used mainly in agriculture and industry, where wood residues are available almost for free.
Best suited ultrasonic sensors for this application are the UFA or the UN Series.
