Die Forschungsarbeiten im Sonderforschungsbereich 361 führen zu neuen Modellen, Methoden und Hilfsmitteln, die eine auf Markt und Kunden ausgerichtete, integrierte und parallele Produkt- und Prozeßgestaltung ermöglichen. Die Hauptschwerpunkte der Arbeiten betreffen dabei die frühen Phasen der Produktentstehung. Ziel ist es, den Entwicklungsprozess von der ersten Produktidee bis zur Gestaltung der Produktionsprozesse und -mittel methodisch zu unterstützen und somit zu optimieren. Dazu werden die frühen Phasen des Produktentstehungsprozesses insgesamt und jede notwendige Teilaufgabe im einzelnen betrachtet. Durch eine systematische und durchgängige Erfassung und Umsetzung von Markt- und Kundenanforderungen wird sichergestellt, dass das Produkt im Konkurrenzumfeld optimal die Wünsche potentieller Käufer erfüllt.

Research in the collaborative research centre 361 is concentrated on the development of new models, methods and tools permitting integrated and parallel product and process design, which is market and customer focused. The principle priorities are the early phases in product development. The objective is to provide support for and thus to optimise, the development process from the initial product idea through to the design of the production processes and equipment. This entails examination of the early phases in the product development process as a whole, and of each sub-task individually. The systematic and continuous collection and implementation of market and customer demands ensures that, within the competitive environment, the product will fulfil the wishes of potential buyers to an optimum degree.
