Siemens to supply turbines for the Valle de México II combined cycle power plant

Siemens will provide H-class power plant technology to Mexico yet again. The equipment will be installed in the new combined cycle power plant 298 CC Valle de México II. The natural-gas-fired power plant will have an installed capacity of 615 megawatts and will be located in the municipality of Acolman.

The customer is a consortium consisting of Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios and Initec Energía from Spain, and Avanzia Instalaciones from Mexico that will build the plant on an EPC basis. The three companies belong to Spanish Construction and Services Group ACS. Commercial operation is scheduled for December 2017.

Siemens will supply two SGT6-8000H gas turbines, one SST6-5000 steam turbine, three SGen-1000A generators as well as the SPPA-T3000 control system for the turbines. Additionally, Siemens will supply the auxiliary equipment, materials, spare parts and special tools, as well as TFA onsite engineering support.

The gas turbines, generators and the steam turbine will be produced in the Siemens Charlotte gas turbine manufacturing plant in North Carolina in the United States.

Siemens has sold 74 H-class gas turbines and is now present in the world's biggest energy markets: North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. The fleet of Siemens H-class world-record gas turbines has achieved more than 3,700 starts and more than 160,000 fired hours.

In May this year Siemens has been awarded a contract to supply two SGT6-8000H gas turbines and two generators to Mexico. The components are to be installed at the Empalme I Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) in Sonora, Mexico.
