FISA: Agricultural research projects at a glance

A comprehensive overview of current research projects is what Federal Government and Federal State authorities in Germany need for mid and long term research planning and to evaluate applications for research projects.

“FISA, the internet platform, offers multiple search functions and access to information about current and completed research projects. With FISA the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) offers both a useful tool and the opportunity to present the German research landscape”, says Dr. Hanns-Christoph Eiden, president of the BLE. In addition to publicly funded research projects, FISA includes projects funded by the European Commission, the German Research Community and other sponsors to prevent double funding.

The recipe for success: linked data, centrally coordinated

In addition to the title, description, budget details or duration of each research project, FISA now lists more than 2,500 research institutions, nearly 130 programmes of support and about 30 framework programmes. Each link leads to an array of further information for politicians, public authorities, scientists and the industry to see research activities in the fields of agriculture and food at a glance.

Research topics and aims

The Federal and Laender governments in Germany fund a wide range of scientific projects in agriculture, food, fisheries and forestry to improve economic performance, to enhance nutritional habits and to promote the sustainable use of natural resources. FISA provides answers as to

• who sponsors
• which projects
• and how many
• via which framework programme
A central platform: bi-lingual, up-to-date and „for the road“
At http://www.fisaonline.de project information is documented centrally and uniformly. FISA also offers information about research institutions, project managers, sponsors and related general networks. Nearly all information is available both in German and in English. Thus, FISA facilitates networking and coordination across research landscapes in Germany, in Europe and around the world.

Latest information is available via rss feed: FISA automatically informs you as soon as a new project has been published. Project data and information about institutions can be seen online and are also available for download.
