The research of the Institute focuses on information processes in the age of global mobile digital communication.
The IPSI develops systems which answer the need for innovative concepts relating to data enhancement and to information and knowledge management in seamless communication.
Such systems primarily play a role in the publishing and distribution of information, in collaborative work and in learning, as well as in communication and planning in both virtual and real worlds. Research groups of the Institute thus address the topics of »corporate management and learning«, »data storage and organization through XML«, »mobile IP", »data security in multimedia systems (watermarks)«, »modern work environments based on the integrated design of real and virtual worlds (Roomware®)«, and others.
The Institute in Darmstadt maintains three competence centers: The XML Competence Center, the Competence Center for Computer-Supported Cooperative Learning CSCL, and the Competence Center for Digital Media Security C4M. Our research is internationally recognized for its excellence and we work in close collaboration with renown researchers all over the world.
The Institute makes its expertise available to international companies of all sizes and in all market sectors, through contract research, dedicated solution development, consulting, training, seminars, workshops and through temporary residencies by guests at the Institute, to.
