Fraunhofer Institute Algorithms and Scientific Calculation

The use of computer simulation based on mathematical methods and models in product and process development shortens lead times and reduces costs.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Calculation SCAI offers a wide array of mathematical and computer-science-based methodologies and the appropriate customized software solutions to tackle challenges related to industrial, scientific and engineering applications.

The Institute employs about 80 scientists from a variety of disciplines, with a predominance of mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists. Its annual budget amounts to approximately 10 million euros. The Institute´s extensive collaboration in national and international research projects ensures that its services are attuned to leading contemporary standards.

Through his post as Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Cologne, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Trottenberg, provides SCAI with a personal link to the academic research world.
