Network Profile

The network of competence "Gesamtzentrum für Verkehr Braunschweig" unites the high regional competence in the area of land transport, aviation and telematics. Essentially the areas of competence contain:

• aviation, flight measurement, airport management
  
• telematic-systems, -applications and -services
  
• railway system engineering, railway operation, railway control technology and railway signalling, traffic safety
  
• traffic study, transport planning
  
• traffic engineering, transport technology
  
• economics of transport and logistics
  
• environmental protection
  
• high precision positioning and navigation in aviation and land transport, communication technology
  
• flight/aviation medicine - traffic medicine,
  
• industrial medicine,
  
• social andpsychological aspects

The network was founded in 1997 with support of the regional foundation NORD/LB · Öffentliche to contribute to

• the development of innovative systems and services for mobility management
  
• promotion of cross-linking and connecting of single traffic systems up to a total traffic system.

These aims will be reached by:

• Concentration of know-how in the topics of Traffic - Transport - Telematics
  
• Preservation and intensifying of scientific know-how-transfers
  
• Synergy of the traffic-carriers road-rail-air, inland waterways
  
• Transfer of scientific knowledge to marketable products and service
  
• Stimulation, promotion and implementation of projects

Industrial partners, small and middle sized companies as well as operators of large research institutes, institutes of the Technical University of Braunschweig, the University of Hanover and of the University of Applied Science Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel as well as public institutions and associations are active in this special network. Thereby the "GZVB" is able to elaborate interdisciplinary solutions for technical details, means of transport and transportation systems including communication technology, data- and information processing according to the chain of value added as well as solutions for questions of logistics, organisation, industrial medicine or psychology. Because physical closeness supports the close co-operation between the partners spin-off-companies in the area of aviation settled down at the research airport of Braunschweig near to the German Aerospace Centre (DLR-Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) and Civil Aviation Authority (LBA-Luftfahrtbundesamt). Meanwhile further companies and services of land transport settled down at the research airport. The spectrum of competence will be completed by the institutes of aviation and aerospace of the Technical University of Braunschweig in the year 2001. All partners want to stimulate and cultivate a campus-atmosphere in cooperation with the mentioned institutes of the University of Braunschweig in order to intensify an innovative teamwork of the network-partners.
