| About us |
Optical technologies are considered to be one of the ’enabling’ technologies. With it’s enormous competitive potential, this key-technology has a driving influence on innovations in the 21st century. Optical technologies are applicable in almost any industrial branch, have become indispensible for research and play a major role in modern medicine.
The Hanover-Brunswick-Göttingen-Wetzlar area, located in the center of Germany, has a long tradition in optical technologies. Nowadays, developments have led to modern manufacturing enterprises, research activities with worldwide recognition and market-oriented training and education.
PhotonicNet, one of nine regional competence networks for Optical Technologies in Germany, was founded in 2001 to promote the optical and photonic technologies in lower saxony.
The main activities are Technology Management including funding consultancy, coordination of R&D projects and initiating product innovations, consultancy in the initial phases of business startups and licenses, aquisition of databases and improvements in training and further education as well as communications and PR.
PhotonicNet’s strength is it’s interdisciplinarity. The competence network includes manufacturers and users of Optical Technologies, research and education institutions, technology transfer agencies, business development companies, investors and public corporations.
