Institut für Mikroelektronik- und Mechatronik-Systeme gGmbH

Institute for Microelectronic and Mechatronic Systems is a non-profit Research and Development organisation. It was set up to offer industry practical product development with a sound academic foundation, thus assisting in getting technological innovations onto the market.

This brings the Institute into close co-operation with universities, with other Research and Development establishments and with companies involved in high technology. IMMS has a number of co-operation agreements with bodies in the "Technologie Region Ilmenau" (the Ilmenau Technology Development Area). The excellent regional network thus formed provides the necessary infrastructure for even the most complicated of services to be delivered.

The main Research and Development activity at IMMS is the creation of complex engineering systems, largely involving heterogeneous microelectronic and mechanical components. These interact intelligently to provide component elements of heterogeneous systems. The components require computer-assisted design and verification methodology.

The Institute is proud of its capability in applying state-of-the-art methodology to the use of innovative engineering, so that leading-edge products can be designed, created and tested.
