Fraunhofer Institute Building Physics

The Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP is concerned with research, development, testing, demonstrating, and consultancy in all fields of building construction. This includes sound insulation in buildings, optimizing the acoustics of auditoria, energy-saving measures, lighting, heating and air conditioning, protection from damp and the weather, preservation of buildings and the care of ancient monuments.

The Institute cooperates with industrial companies in introducing new building materials, components, and systems. Extensive test facilities - some of them unique - make it possible to carry out complex physical investigations.

The Institute is an officially approved certifying authority for new building materials and methods in Germany and the European Union. Its customers are organizations and companies involved in building and construction, plant and machinery construction, architects and building contractors, planning and approval authorities, and funders of research in the public and private sectors.
