Safety brakes in wind turbines
Failure of the drives or the safety brakes in electrical pitch controls on wind turbines can have fatal consequences. If the entire system fails, this leads in a worst case scenario to complete destruction of the system. Decades of experience, precise knowledge of the braking torque tolerances, extremely conscientious dimensioning and high product quality guarantee that mayr® power transmission safety brakes installed in wind turbine pitch drives work reliably and without requiring maintenance for the entire system lifetime.
Limiting high torques reliably using disengaging torque limiting clutches
In heavy engineering and on drives with high torques, high speeds and large mass moments of inertia, disengaging torque limiting clutches ensure that the input and output are completely separated on collision or after a malfunction, and that the stored rotational energy can slow down freely. In contrast to shear pins and hydraulic clamping sets, such clutches are non-destructive, are much more accurate and are ready for operation again far more quickly. They therefore provide interesting, economically-viable and future-orientated solutions.
