BioProfile "Functional Genome Analysis - platform for diagnostics and therapy" is a project called into life by biotech companies and research establishments located in Lower Saxony’s so-called "City Triangle" of Brunswick (Braunschweig), Göttingen and Hanover. It is a part of Lower Saxony’s BioRegioN initiative.
The partners participated successfully with a joint development concept in the national BioProfile Competition organized by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung - BMBF), the prize for which was 15 million euro of federal funding up until the year 2006 for the promotion of regional biotechnology in southern Lower Saxony. The funds will be used to promote the development of innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment (medicines) in three main areas of concern: infection biology, neurobiology and stem cell biology. The driving force of the effort will be functional genome analysis
