Tenovis setzt auf Garderos-Software

Garderos has won Tenovis, one of the leading European providers of communication services, as both customer and partner. The two companies will be working closely together in the deployment of wireless local area networks (WLANs) particulary in the healthcare and the hospitality business.

Tenovis, with 6,000 employees one of the leading European providers of communication services, has chosen Siemens spin-off Garderos as both customer and partner for its Public Wireless LAN business, thus extending its product portfolio in the area of modern business communication. As “system integration partner” of Garderos, Tenovis will be offering its services to public hotspots as an operator of Public WLAN networks. Hospitals and hotels will thus be able to provide high speed Internet access on the spot, while continuing to focus on their core business.

With this partnership, Tenovis further emphasizes its leading role as solution provider for data and voice communication. “More and more companies are integrating WLAN as part of their infrastructure for internal communication, or are looking for easy-to-handle solutions for their customers,” explains Dieter Oepen, Director Marketing for industry specific solutions at Tenovis. “With Garderos’ software we can offer our customers a convincing solution that guarantees maximum flexibility and security.”

Having won Tenovis as partner and customer is regarded by Garderos CEO Hans Christensen as a proof of the technological lead of the company’s “i250 Plattform”. “Tenovis will also be implementing our solution in the healthcare sector, where security issues naturally have highest priority. For that reason, we regard Tenovis’ decision as a particular honor.”

WLANs in hospitals are used for both internal and external communication. Thus, patients can surf the Internet at broadband speed or access corporate intranet. Dieter Oepen sees an extraordinary demand here. “We expect WLAN technology to quickly establish itself in the healthcare sector. Also, hospitals will increasingly opt for secure solutions and extensive services. This is exactly what we are offering together with Garderos now.”

Tenovis and Garderos will be presenting their WLAN solution in Hannover from 17-19 February 2004 at the “Altenpflege 2004” – the leading exhibition for elderly care, as well as at “Internorga” hotal business trade fair in Hamburg from 5-10 March 2004.
