| phoenix|x-ray - competency in non-destructive testing with high resolution X-ray technology As a consequence to the increasing complexity of electronical and micromechanical devices and printed circuit boards quality assurance and process control has become more and more important in order to increase production yields and minimise failures. The non-destructive testing with X-ray inspection systems has proven to be a good solution for both laboratory use and production plant. In contradiction to optical inspection the advantage of X-ray inspection is that it is possible to analyse hidden solder joints, die attach, packaged bond wires and most internal failures can be detected. phoenix|x-ray has been founded in the year 1999 in Wunstorf close to Hanover. The company has subsidiaries in Stuttgart/Germany, Camarillo/USA, Manila/The Philippines and representatives all over the world. At the headquarters phoenix|x-ray develops and manufactures microfocus and nanofocus™ X-ray inspection systems, X-ray tubes plus test and image processing software and systems for microfocus computed tomography for the three dimensional failure analysis. Five laboratories worldwide offer inspection services on an hourly basis. The product portfolio is divided into six application oriented product lines. The main fields of application are semiconductor and printed circuit board manufacturing, printed circuit board assembly, micromechanics and electromechanics. The systems are available with an open or closed X-ray tube and many features and are always dedicated to the specific inspection tasks of the customers. A high grade of automisation can be achieved by using the different software modules in combination with the CNC manipulation unit. phoenix|x-ray is one of the most innovative companies of the industry and has already invented a number of novel techniques, e.g. OVHM oblique view at highest magnification, a 16-bit digital imaging chain, fully automated BGA inspection, the first industrially available X-ray tube with a proven resolution of less than 1 micron and - the latest product - a high-power nanofocus™ tube which can be used for the visualisation of finest details down to 200 nanometers as well as for the inspection of higher absorbing materials.
