Garderos gewinnt rockenstein AG als Kunden

The software of Munich-based WLAN-specialist Garderos will be deployed in public WLAN-hotspots of Wuerzburg-based Internet service provider rockenstein. Thus, Siemens spin-off Garderos wins another nationwide active Internet service provider.

Garderos Software Innovations GmbH is providing Wuerzburg-based Internet service provider rockenstein AG with its access and accounting software for high-speed Internet access. The software allows smooth access to both Internet and corporate intranets, to-the-second billing of online-costs, as well as customer-specific design of login pages. Additionally, it allows several hotspot networks to be managed from a single network operation center.

With its high-speed Internet access, rockenstein is aiming to provide public WLANhotspots, e.g. cafés, hotels, trade fairs and congress centers, with a particularly userfriendly and secure high-speed access to the Internet and corporate intranets, and is aiming to expand rapidly in this market. "According to our motto ’always ahead’, we are focusing on state-of-the-art technology and are very demanding with regard to its quality", says Dr. Dirk Woessner, WLAN-project manager at rockenstein. "Garderos’ software is fully compatible with these requirements, thus enabling us to offer highest quality of service.”

The Garderos technology enables users at public hotspots to surf the Internet at a speed of up to
11 Mbit/sec., which is 200 times faster than ISDN. The only requirement is that their computers are equipped with WLAN-cards certified according to standard 802.11b – something virtually all new laptops have today. Hotspot users only need to register once, and they are on-line immediately. Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and tunnels provide highest Internet security. Service provider rockenstein can now offer users to the- second billing of online fees. The centralized administration from the service provider’s headquarters in Wuerzburg allows a particularly customer-oriented and efficient network management.

"We are very pleased that rockenstein has chosen our company as the provider for access and accounting software to its Public Wireless LAN business. It gives us the chance to further prove the quality and capacity of our software," states Garderos CEO Hans Christensen.
